Details
Continuing warm and sunny with temperatures into the mid 20s.
A fresh south west Atlantic air feed with a breeze ensuring dispersion of any local emissions.
Ground-level ozone production, often elevated during sunny and warm weather, is driven by rising temperatures and sunshine acting on emissions such as oxides of nitrogen, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and carbon monoxide. With a relatively 'clean' air feed and with good dispersion of any local emissions, its not expected there will be the precursors available for ozone formation, so although levels may increase, they should remain 'low' overall. The national Daily Air Quality Index (DAQI) for ozone is measured as a running 8-hourly mean.
Air pollution is expected to remain 'Low' for the following pollutants:
PM10 Particulates
PM2.5 Particulates
Nitrogen Dioxide
Ozone
Sulphur Dioxide
