airAlert website for Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire
News from the LAQN

ERG have created an airAlert website for Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. The service will provide air quality alerts to people with asthma, COPD* and other respiratory conditions in the Herts and Beds region (north of London). airAlert is a preventative intervention method which provides information to vulnerable people, by warning/alerting individuals by text/SMS, home phone (voice message), email, RSS and web.

airAlert aims to inform people: to keep them healthy, avoid exacerbations, reduce GP visits and avoidable hospital admissions due to their conditions.

airAlert was pioneered by Sussex-air in partnership with ERG, as a model for providing air quality forecasts to respiratory vulnerable people, schools and health professionals across local authorities or regions in the UK.

The service presently provides air quality alerts for the two regions, however future plans include providing specific COPD and HEAT alerts direct to patients and health care networks.

COPD* - Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
