The Sutton 4 kerbside site will be closed temporarily during works redevelop the centre of Wallington. Since the site opened in 2002 it has measured numerous breaches of EU air quality limits for nitrogen dioxide, highlighting that air pollution problems in alongside congested main roads in outer London. Measurements in the first weeks of 2011 suggest that the site has already breached the hourly mean EU Limit Value for nitrogen dioxide for the year. A replacement site is planned for the area to be installed later in 2011.
