On Wednesday 9th March 2011, King’s College London welcomed Dr. Yu-Han Tsou, Director and Dr. Ching-An Chuang, Assistant Director of the Science and Technology Division of the Taipei Representative Office in the UK and the National Science Council (NSC).

The purpose of the visit was to explore potential opportunities for collaboration in scientific research between the UK and Taiwan. Dr. Tsou and Dr. Chuang met with the directors of three of the seven Medical Research Council (MRC) centres at King’s - Asthma, MRC-HPA and Developmental Neurobiology. The NSC is the main governmental promotion and funding body for science research in Taiwan.

The delegates also met with Professor Simon Lovestone (Director of Research, King’s Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre) and Professor Simon Howell (Dean of Research for Biomedical & Health Sciences), in addition to Professor Stephen Challacombe of the Dental Institute.

This visit was a highly valuable one as King’s continues to pursue its strategy of increasing links with both government and academia in Taiwan.
