Between 2009 and 2011 AirParif, the Paris air quality monitoring network carried out a detailed investigation of PM2.5 and PM10 in the Paris region. The project, costing over 1 million Euros, highlighted the contributions from regional pollution sources and wood burning to the airborne particles in Paris, in addition to particles from vehicle exhausts.
