'Moderate' levels of ozone may therefore occur in background locations away from busy roads during Wednesday afternoon.

Levels of PM10 and PM2.5 particulate pollution are also expected to increase as air that has travelled over the near-continent arrives in London on a south-easterly feed. However, this air is predicted to have travelled over Europe at a relatively high altitude, thereby limiting the potential for it to accumulate pollutants en route. A particulate pollution episode is therefore not expected to develop.

Air pollution is expected to remain 'Low' for the following pollutants:

Nitrogen dioxide
Sulphur dioxide
PM10 Particulates
PM2.5 Particulates

" />

These lower temperatures and the cloud cover will limit the potential for ground-level ozone to form.

With the wind direction also changing to introduce an Atlantic breeze, there should be little imported pollution and good local dispersion too.

Air pollution is expected to remain 'Low' for the following pollutants:

Nitrogen dioxide
Ozone
Sulphur dioxide
PM10 Particulates
PM2.5 Particulates

" />
