News from the LAQN

The report "Estimating local mortality burdens associated with particulate air pollution" which has been published today by Public Health England (PHE).

The report presents mortality burdens associated with long-term exposure to anthropogenic particulate pollution in the three metrics (attributable fraction, attributable deaths and years of life lost to the population) recommended in COMEAP’s 2012 Statement on "Estimating the Mortality Burden of Particulate Air Pollution at the Local Level.

Burdens are presented at local authority, regional and national level"
. PHE expects that these estimates will be useful in communicating the effects of air pollution on public health and help inform decision making about local public health priorities. The report also includes guidance on how to obtain and handle the data required to undertake such calculations.
