Enfield 5 Upgrade
News from the LAQN

The London Borough of Enfield's air pollution monitoring site on Bowes Road (Enfield 5 - A406 North Circular) has recently been upgraded.

The small cabinet has been replaced with a larger cabin enabling an Oxides of Nitrogen analyser to be added to the existing PM10 TEOM which has been running for nearly four years.

This TEOM is itself to be upgraded to an FDMS in the near future. The extra cabin space also allows additional research equipment to be run alongside the permanent equipment owned by London Borough of Enfield.

The site is unique in being the only air quality monitoring site in London to be both located in a primary school and to be at a roadside location adjacent to a major trunk road (North circular).

The improved site has already been utilised in a NERC funded pilot study looking at the composition and toxicity of particulate matter across London.
