Staff from MRC-HPA Centre contribute to WHO project

Staff from the MRC-HPA Centre for Environment and Health are currently are making a significant contribution to the World Health Organisation/Europe project: ‘Evidence on health aspects of air pollution to review EU policies - REVIHAAP’.

REVIHAAP is providing the European Commission with scientific, evidence-based advice on health aspects of air pollution in support of the comprehensive review of EU air quality policies due in 2013.

At the first Expert Meeting in Bonn last week, of the 30 or so invited delegates from top academic institutions across the world, an impressive 25% were represented from the Centre.

Based on extensive reviews of the scientific literature, during the meeting our experts discussed, evaluated and finalised preliminary answers to 21 key questions regarding health aspects of air pollution. A second Expert Meeting is planned for January 2013.
