LLECP and Emissions Analytics working with the construction industry in London
News from the LAQN

The London Low Emission Construction Partnership (LLECP), managed on behalf of the London boroughs by the Environmental Research Group at King’s College London, have been running a measurement campaign looking at emissions from generators for the last 2 years.

Working in partnership with Emissions Analytics and Speedy Services we are using a portable emission measurement system (PEMS) to characterise ‘real-world’ diesel emissions from a range of different generators. These are a particular problem for London as they do not meet the current low emission zone standard for the most polluted central areas and are often operated inefficiently. In many situations, large generators are run 24 hours a day supplying very low power requirements.

The information collected will feed back into the London Atmospheric Emissions Inventory as well as create an evidence base used to promote best in class alternatives to power generation and also help to shape future policy relating to the use of non-road mobile machinery.
