New sites at London Borough of Hounslow.
News from the LAQN

The London Borough of Hounslow have recently added two sites to the LAQN: Hounslow 6 in August 2008 and Hounslow 7 in November 2008.

Hounslow 6 (Heston Road) is a roadside site positioned on the north side of the busy A4 West road. Hounslow 7 (Hatton Cross) is a background site just south of the A30 near Hatton Cross. Both sites are situated in residential streets and comprise an oxides of nitrogen analyser and a TEOM measuring PM10. Although Hounslow 7 falls into the background category, it is a short distance from the perimeter of Heathrow airport and almost underneath the flight path.

Although these sites are new to the LAQN they have been running for many years and historic data is available on our website for download. Historic data (not ratified by ERG) is available for Hounslow 6 from 13 April 2006 to 15 May 2008 and for Hounslow 7 from 9 January 2005 to 28 October 2008. (Hounslow 7 was closed from October to late November 2008. Some additional data for Hounslow 7 from November to January 2009 will be added to the website shortly).

These sites are a significant addition to the local authority’s air pollution monitoring programme which already includes measurements from long-running sites in Brentford, Cranford and Chiswick. On a wider perspective, Hounslow 6 increases the LAQN’s data coverage in West London and Hounslow 7 is another key residential site closely located to Heathrow airport.
