Free training course for LAQN site operators
News from the LAQN

Local site operators are the eyes and ears of the network. Their regular calibrations and effective site operation form the bedrock of the QA/QC process - vital in delivering an accurate and robust data set from the London Air Quality Network (LAQN)

It is this high quality data that forms the basis for air quality modelling and health research nationally and internationally.

The expansion and changes of environmental health roles at many local authorities, combined with ever-tightening budgets, has meant air quality responsibilities have changed hands at many authorities over the past year.

We’d like to support our partners in the LAQN by offering a free Local Site Operator (LSO) training course for these new staff, others who may need to provide holiday cover, or individuals who wish to understand what is involved.

The course will be held at our base at Waterloo, and will be delivered from the perspective of the operator on the ground; drawing on our 20 years experience of providing LSO duties across a vast range of equipment. It will cover the principles of site operation and also address specific equipment types and issues.

The course will take place on 15th October and is free to LAQN members. Please email Tim Baker if you would like to attend.
