Review of EPUK Guidance Development Control: Planning for Air Quality (2010 Update)
News from the LAQN

In 2010, EPUK carried out a major review of its guidance document related to development control and air quality. The document has been widely used and is frequently cited at planning inquiries. The guidance draws upon significance criteria recommended by the Institute of Air Quality Management.

Since then, the planning landscape has changed considerably. The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) now replaces PPS23. In addition, a number of local authorities have been developing local guidance related to air quality and development control, principally based around low emissions strategies.

EPUK intends to issue a 2013 update to the guidance, after consulting with stakeholders. As part of this exercise, EPUK, in association with IAQM, is running an afternoon workshop to discuss some of the critical issues with people on all sides of this aspect of the planning process.

The event will take place 1300-1600 hrs on 22 May 2013 at the City of London offices.
