EPUK Planning Guidance 2nd Call for Evidence - Mitigation

Environmental Protection UK are opening a second call for evidence as part of their review of the guidance 'Development Control: Planning for Air Quality', this time focused on mitigation measures. They are interested in mitigation measures that local authorities have negotiated with developers and / or included as planning conditions, specific examples may include:

  • Requiring contributions to air quality action plans or specific measures (as advocated by the Low Emission Strategies guidance)
  • Requesting redesigns of the development on air quality grounds
  • Requiring parking and/ or vehicle access restrictions on air quality grounds
  • Requiring travel plans as air quality mitigation measures
  • Ventilation issues (e.g. requiring sealed windows, mechanical ventilation, etc)
They are also interested to hear from any local authorities who have incorporated Low Emission Strategy style contributions to air quality action plans within their Local Development Frameworks.

Please could you send contributions by Friday 20th November to ED.Dearnley@environmental-protection.org.uk and george.knights@environmental-protection.org.uk
