A recent study at the Camden 1 - Swiss Cottage monitoring site used measurements of the chemical composition of PM10 collected on filters to apportion the PM10 into chemical components. A new mass closure methodology was developed using on site measurements of primary components as well as measurements of regional components made at other sites in London.
The mass closure methodology showed how chemical components from outside London contributed the majority of the PM10 measured during the study period. Future work will investigate the composition of PM2.5 as well as PM10.
